Vlasis Ninios MD, is an Interventional Cardiologist and the Director of the Cardiology Department at Interbalkan European Medical Center. He was born in Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece, where he completed his Medical studies in Aristotle University in 1995, graduating with honours. After serving in the rural medical service and military service he moved to UK, where he completed his professional and specialty training (Specialist Registrar NTN) in Papworth University Hospital, Cambridge University NHS Trust, Cambridge UK. Following that he moved back to Greece in 2005 and ever since he has been actively practicing in the field of Cardiology.

His personal interest is Interventional Cardiology in Structural Heart Disease. He is active in all fields of Transcatheter Valve Interventional procedures (TAVI, Mitraclip, CARILLON), Congenital Interventional procedures (ASD, PFO, PDA, VSD) as well as coronary Interventional procedures. He is also Cardiac Device specialist (pacemakers, ICD, CRT). He is actively involved in education for over 15 years and he is currently an active proctor for Mitraclip, ASD/PFO closure and TAVI.
His main research interest is percutaneous treatment of Mitral and Tricuspid regurgitation and he is actively involved in various multi-centre randomised trials (CARILLON pivotal Trial, RESHAPE-HF 2 trial)
