Simon Howell

Simon Howell MA(Cantab) MRCP FRCA MSc MD, is a clinical academic in the University of Leeds. He is Lead of the Division of Gastroenterology and Surgical Sciences in the University of Leeds. He is a Director and Editorial Board Member of the British Journal of Anaesthesia and a past Chairman of the Vascular Anaesthesia Society. He is the current chairman of the Vascular Subcommittee of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. He is an applicant or co-applicant on active research grants totalling over £3 million. His current research interests include perioperative myocardial injury, frailty in the surgical patient, and the perioperative management of the patient with diabetes.
