Dr. Lidia Mora was born in Jijona, Spain, and received her M.D. from the Miguel Hernández School of Medicine in Alicante in 1997 after studying one year at the Ludwig Maximilians Universität in Munich, Germany. She is Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the Trauma Centre at Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, Spain (www.vhebron.net), since she completed her residency there in 2002. At the present time she is tutor of residents and she is leading the development of the Severe Haemorrhage Protocol for the Vall d’Hebron Hospital and participates in the General Protocols Quality Committee. She is also a board member of the Hospital Transfusion Committee along with the Blood Bank. Dr. Mora has been instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support (SVAT) courses for the past ten years to date and works within the Spine Surgery Research Group at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (www.vhir.org). She also collaborates in the European Spine Surgery Group since 2013. Faculty member since May 2015 of the Seminars about Patient Blood Management organized by Danube University of Krems (Austria) and directed by Prof. Sibylle Kozek and Prof. Donat Spahn. Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) since November 2016. Her biggest field of expertise is the anaesthetic management in Major Orthopaedic Surgery, especially in Spine Surgery, Resuscitation of severe trauma patients and treatment of severe bleeding and acute coagulation disorders. She joined two years ago the team for the total face transplantation performed at her Hospital, addressing the haemostatic resuscitation with POC and viscoelastic assays.
