Carlos Galhardo Jr.

Dr. Carlos Galhardo, MD, FASE is the Chief of Anesthesia Department at São Lucas Hospital and the current Director of Adult Anesthesia Division at the National Institute of Cardiology, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a cardiac anesthesiologist, and part of his training was done as a clinical fellow in Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care at Toronto General Hospital, Canada. Dr. Galhardo also served as a member of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Committee at the Brazilian Society of Anesthesiology, as well as a member of the International Committee at the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA). He is a current member of the editorial board for the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia (JCTVA) and the Brazilian Journal of Anesthesiology (BJAN). Dr. Galhardo is board certified in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (NBE, USA) and a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE). His research interest includes Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), Patient Blood Management (PBM), Cerebral Oximetry Monitoring and Perioperative Echocardiography.
